LEGAL PRACTITIONERS ORDINANCE - minor amendment

CHAPTER 159

LEGAL PRACTITIONERS

1. The Accountant's Report Rules are amended-

(1) in rule 3(2) by repealing 'Committee' in the second, third,
fourth, fifth and sixth places where it appears and substituting
therefor 'Council';

(2) in rules 6, 9(2)(b), 10, 11 and 12 by repealing 'Committee'
wherever it appears and substituting therefor 'Council';

(3) in Form 1 of the Schedule, in the address at the end thereof-

(a)by repealing 'Committee' and substituting therefor
'Council';

(b) by repealing 'Union' and substituting therefor 'Swire'.

2. The Solicitors' Accounts Rules are amended in rules 8(2), 9(4),
10(7), 11(1), (3) and (4), and 13 by repealing 'Committee' wherever
it appears and substituting therefor 'Council'.

3. The Solicitors (General) Costs Rules are amended in the Third
Schedule, in item 1, by repealing paragraph (c) and substituting'

(c) photographic copy, for each sheet of foolscap or smaller page-
(i) for the first 100 pages $3.00
(ii) thereafter discretionary but not exceeding
$3.00 for each page.

4. The Articled Clerks Rules are amended in rule 9(4)--

(a)in sub-paragraph (f) by repealing the full stop and
substituting-

served by the clerk before the articles entered into by
him under these rules;

(b) by adding after sub-paragraph (f)-

(g)a period of not less than 1 nor more than 3
months such as may be approved by the Society
in its discretion, being a period-
(i) immediately before the clerk entered into
his articles;
(ii) which he has spent working in the office of
a solicitor in Hong Kong or in the Legal Depart-
ment, the Registrar General's Department or the
Legal Aid Department, of the Government in a
way compatible with service under articles; and





(iii) which is confirmed by statutory declara-
tion from a solicitor, or a qualified person, to
whom the clerk is articled as complying with this
sub-paragraph.

5. The Practising Certificate (Solicitors) Rules are amended in rule
3 by repealing '$1,500' and substituting '$2,750'.
