FOREST OFFICERS ORDINANCE, 1923
Description
No. 32 of 1923.
An Ordinance to confer certain powers of arrest on forest
officers.
[21st December, 1923]
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Forest Officers
Ordinance, 1923.
2. In this Ordinance, forest officer includes the
Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department,
every Assistant Superintendent of the said department, every
Supervisor in the said department, and every person appointed
to be a forest guard in the said department.
3. It shall be lawful for any forest officer, and for any
person assisting any forest officer, to arrest without warrant
any person whoin such forest officer or person assisting may
reasonably suspect of having contravened any of the enact-
ments specified in the Schedule.
4. Every person who assaults or resists or obstructs any
forest officer in the execution of his duty shall upon summary
conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding two hundred and
fifty dollars and to imprisonment forany term not exceeding
six months.
5. It shall be lawful for the Governor in Counell to amend
the Schedule in any manner whatsoever.
